Hi, this is Jackie. Hi, this is Diana. And this is Home Bodies Only, where we welcome all bodies to join us as we break down and dissect HBO Max series. And this episode, we are talking about Somebody Somewhere, season three, episode five, num nums. Num nums. AKA Thanksgiving. right, let's dig into it. this time I found this website called tunefind.com.
Totally, I feel like an accident. Well, nothing is an accident, right? Last night I was watching actually episode, was it this one? yeah, I was watching this one. I'm like, what are we doing? We're so, we're all over the place. We still haven't watched the finale. I'm like trying not to look at stuff online. I was, I did not know what the name of the final song, they've been playing these songs during the credits. No, yes. I did not know it was Chris Stapleton. Yeah, did not know that one.
Also, I didn't know, I think in the, in episode three, yeah, I could not find the name of that song. So I just like Googled and sometimes it'll come up. Sometimes my captions actually play the, show the lyrics. So then I can kind of figure it out a little better. It's not doing that. So I Googled this and I came upon this website, TuneFind and...
Maybe they, I'm sure they have it for other shows, but they have it for somebody somewhere. They show all the songs that are played in it. And they do a nice sweet short summary, which I love. Cause there's other ones that they're good, but they throw me off and they're not, if they're not in order and all that. It's ready. Here is the summary from tunefine.com. I don't know who wrote it. They don't have a person. With Shannon.
At Ricks, Tricia joins Sam and her friends for Thanksgiving. As her chosen family celebrates firsts and moments of growth, details about Brad's past are revealed and Sam gains a better appreciation of the depths of true love. Bing. I mean. Right? Perfect. Perfect. Exactly what happened. Exactly. All right, so love.
Jacqueline Hanzl (02:18.018)
The way Brad tells his story. I think I even put this under speech language analysis about his family. He has such a nice cadence, the way he always speaks though, just his rhythm and his delivery.
Also how he said, that's just what you did in those days. I think people still do what's expected. Obviously his story is a little different and I can't speak to that perspective. I'm just saying, just feel like more, that happens a lot with people. They do what's expected when maybe they're not super really happy and fulfilled, but they do what's expected and what they feel like is right. And a lot of times.
they're not really living their true self. So anyway, I just, loved his whole story. I loved that Sam brought Iceland turkey. I liked Sam's, what I'm gonna call nifty gifty to Joel. I don't know if Diana made up nifty gifty, but. You know where I that from, right? No, where's it from? I got it from the office. Oh. Because.
Michael gives out Nifty Gifties when, I think it's when the Connecticut branch closes and they absorb the staff. I'm gonna- Yes. And so he buys them like these, he called them Nifty Gifties and ever since then I've been obsessed and I am known to give out Nifty Gifties. Nifty Gifties, you did just give me a Nifty Gifties. It's a sticker for the bills.
says, go Bills, and there's a QR code on it, and it takes you to the song. I mean, that's not a nifty-gifty. Yeah, I love it. So I did love her nifty-gifty to him, the picture of them and those lovely magnets. I also loved Iceland showing up at Sam's house. I had to like...
Jacqueline Hanzl (04:28.396)
I mean, I did watch the show, this episode twice. I was like, wait a minute, it's morning, she's wearing the same clothes. can't be later that day. I was very a little confused with the timing, but I was like, yeah, it's the next day. She stayed over or whatever. I also love that he says he'd like to drink a beer with her. Okay, what did you love? I had some similarities. Yes. I wrote that I loved when Iceland came over. That was very sweet. I loved the way Brad handled that.
whole situation. Yeah. Because a lot of people, I think at a table, you know, over Thanksgiving is it could definitely go south pretty quick and like become very argumentative and like, you just could see the tension, but everybody's like waiting. Anyway, I just love the way he handled it. you said, the way he speaks is just wonderful. And then I loved Sam trying to talk to
Iceland. And I loved it, but it also made me cry. So it's under my left cry. This episode. my God. Okay. Hate. The only hate I have is Shannon going to Rick's and not calling back. That's all I yeah. That's what you I mean, I thought about Susan being annoying, but it brought him to speak, like it caused him to speak. anyway, but...
I mean, was my my hate was I hate drunk Susan. Yeah. She like, you know how there's like people that get drunk or like drink and they become annoying and like you don't want to be around them. Like, I don't like to be around the people that start to drink and then they act weird. Yeah. Or just yeah. Like arrogant and like in your face. Like I like angry.
And she was just like, so. She was like, like, I want to be like, shut the. Yeah, she acted like, yeah. Oh, you had a whole you're a mystery man. I would just I feel like Brad's not the type of person you would speak to that way when you're like if if I were to speak, if I spoke to somebody like that when we were sober, like, oh, mystery, you know, then when I was drunk, like that makes you know what I mean? But she did it. And there could be a better segue or like.
Jacqueline Hanzl (06:51.627)
Yeah. You know what I mean? Like to bring that up. Yeah. Like so rad, know, like I was always, you know, just like a smooth, but it was just kind of like, I was just like, yeah. And then they use the M word and I hate that. I think, did I bring that up? Yes, I did. I did later on. It's on my laugh. Because I thought of you. Girl, it's on it. Okay. Oh, good Lord. The M word.
Okay, that was love hate. I can relate. The Pinot Grigio effect. really, I mean, well, I'm now more Sauvignon Blanc, but it doesn't have the same ring to it. So I Pinot Grigio effect. I mean, I hope I don't become like Susan. No, please don't. But I just, I can relate to that. Also, I noticed this the second time I watched it. So I don't know if you noticed this, but.
shaking the computer because I'm so excited. There was a thing of Pond's cold cream on Trisha's dresser. I don't know how I even saw it. I felt like I was at you because you look around and I was like, okay, so there's this thing with Pond's and me and Diana. don't know. It's a love-hate triangle. know. I use that to take off my eye makeup.
And my makeup, there's any blush left by the end of the day. And I love it. And I tried like the, what are those things called? Like the water stuff. Yeah, they the wipes. my cellular, how do you say it? That like burned my eyelids. My mom is the same. And she doesn't use cold cream though. She uses something I think similar though, that like a substance like it. I feel like she does use a Mary Kay one. Or maybe she could use a white, I know she can't use like, I'm very sensitive to anything else.
And it feels good. I actually get the fragrance free now, which I do like the smell of ponds, but I know it's not great to have fragrance in products. So I do get the fragrance free, but I love the feel. Like I can't wait to take my eye makeup off, rub it in, I let it sit just like picture you with that. it. I'll take a picture of myself tonight if you want. Like the green tin of like Noxzema afterwards. yeah, that would be a good combination. I just love it. Yes. I remember that.
Jacqueline Hanzl (09:15.881)
That's great. I didn't even notice that. I'm so glad you yeah, I already have a picture that's going to go up right now probably or did already. Yeah. Okay. I think that's it for I can relate. Ding. Ding. Yes. I can relate bringing a hostess gift, AKA nifty gifty and wine. I don't like to show my empty handed. Yeah. Yeah, no, I will walk in with wine. Yeah. Yeah. So I can relate to those things.
Laugh, holy S-H-I-T. Sherry's face. And I, again, took a picture of it. I froze it on the screen, took a picture. When Sam says, is this Sherry Berry's home made casserole? She's like, yeah, I don't know. She's cross-eyed, looks like the devil. Like her eyebrows are pointed down and she's like, Wait, I- She was enjoying her Paps blue ribbons over there in the corner.
I can't, she, wait. Does Sherry have a sidecar when she drinks too? Right? She have the, you know what a sidecar is? Yeah, yeah. It's a drink, right? Yeah. I think, yeah. you have like a little like- Another drink? Like a sidecar, like a- Like a second drink? trinity club or like a scotch or- Okay, yeah. Like a little sipper on the Yeah, I don't know. don't know I feel like she looks like somebody with a sidecar. Man, she's been, I mean, I hope I'm not-
offending anyone, but she is the epitome kind of of like ridden hard and left wet. I mean like, right? She's got to know that. But I love her so much. she just delivers. And I'm really hoping she's in the next one. We got two episodes left, two episodes or one, two. I can't with her. Okay. When they're talking about the turkey quote, the word very moist, just like Trisha.
And as soon as I heard it, like the just like Tricia is funny, but it's just the fact that they said it. And I know you hate that word. I was laughing because I knew you were like, okay. Tricia drunk, screaming, Joel, I love you. When they're like, and they're driving away. mean, that just was great. I laughed when Sam is saying she's going to play catch basically. And she's like, it sounds.
Jacqueline Hanzl (11:44.139)
a lot. I don't know. It doesn't sound as cool. I still think she makes fun of it. Then she's like, yeah, maybe not drive by the park for like the next 90 minutes. The way she said it was just really cute. They were all flirty. It was adorable. Oh, I loved it. Okay. What you got for laugh? For my laugh? Um, the manifest scene. Oh, we had that too. Yeah. do. Manifest it. Yes. Manifest. Yes. No, I was, yeah, I was dying and she's like, does it sound stupid? Does it sound good? Yeah.
thanking the Pinot Grigio at the dinner table was great. That made me laugh. And the Pinot Grigio effect. Pinot Grigio effect. Pinot Grigio effect. Yes. Those were my laughs. Okay. Okay, cry. Now let me tell you, the first time I watched this episode, I bawled. Like I'm trying to think when it started. I think when...
Brad started talking at the table. And then everything made me cry. mean, and it was snot, it was tears, everything. Like him talking, then Joel looking at him and getting upset. that just, I cried like, and then Sam getting in the truck, mean, Sam giving him the turkey. Like everything made me cry. Her crying. Then when him showing up, everything, it triggered me. And I watched it the second time, I did not. I mean, I think I teared up a little bit.
That first time I was like a blubbering freaking baby. Like I was like, can't. I can't. I also, when Brad says, I'm grateful for this moment that brought me here or something like that. I love that. Sam, yeah, crying in the truck after she asks Iceland basically out and he really doesn't. Yeah, right. Joel crying in the kitchen. Again, shiitake mushrooms.
I just, was like, it was so good. And I assume he is thinking about kids, especially like what Sam said, how she was like, I get it now, I get it. You did it for love. him like holding, again, he is not being true to himself. know, when Brad was saying he wasn't, he didn't accept himself or whatever, know, Joel, that's like, there's so many cases of that, like with so many people.
Jacqueline Hanzl (14:13.867)
I mean, I understand there's compromise and stuff, but a of times it's big, And that was a big sacrifice essentially for him. Okay. Yeah. I shed a little tear when Iceland was like, so I can call you. No, everything. got the chill. So cute. And then when Joel was falling over the T, I have to be honest, at first when...
when he put the fridge, the magnet up on the fridge and all that, and then he transitioned over and he was like looking at the tea that Brad had made and left for him or whatever. At first, I swear, I thought he was gonna be like, I want a martini, I don't want your tea. Like one of these like moments of like, and I'm gonna tell him like, you know, and I wanna put fridge magnets up, but I'm gonna do, you know what I mean? I thought he was gonna be like.
I want a drink or something. Right. the other way quick. That was that was really that was a that was a tear teary moment for me. poor guy. Yeah, I'm sure that that's part of my prediction. there's going to be something in the last episode with that or a cliffhanger, I guess, to leave us hanging. I know. Even though we know it's the end, but maybe it's not.
Speech language analysis, right? Or do we do psych first? I don't care. I actually don't have anything because- Nothing on Joel. No, because honestly, think that's the part. We've already talked about it, naturally. Right. That's what I would say that I had here about Joel was watching the dinner, Sam bringing that up, and then all coming.
and hitting him hard. So that's a big overwhelming emotion that he's going to have to figure out what he wants to do. You can't suppress stuff like that because it comes out in other ways. Yeah. That's my prediction is that something's going to come to head with Joel by the last episode. Not that I think that they'll break up over it, but it's something. It's got to be addressed. There's got to be something that happens about it.
Jacqueline Hanzl (16:38.89)
for speech language analysis when Sherry... Sherry. I'm just gonna say Sherry and start laughing. When Sam asked what's in it, I was imitating her so well last night and now I haven't listened to it so I don't know if I can do it. She's like, Taki and noodles. It's like Taki, Taki, Taki and noodles. But like her face was like, Taki and noodles. I mean, I got such a good still. I'm gonna show it again right now.
I can't with her. She kills me. Who's the best?
Iceland now, okay, misunderstood. know he, okay. So she said, you ever drink beer with anyone other than Jerry? And he says, no. And then obviously he came over and was like, I had a follow-up question or I had like, I didn't answer it all the way or whatever he said. But my language analysis is he took her literally. He's from a different culture. English is not his first language or native language.
He took it as, know, she's like, almost like, have you ever did you? And he's like, no, I only drank with Jerry. But then, so I don't know. mean, again, I'm going way too deep into this, like, cause it's not real people, like, did he, I could feel like that was his first answer and didn't realize she was asking him out basically for a beer. he promised Not those social cues. Overnight, no, he has some problems with social cues. He also has problems giving he say like, he's like, I'm Icelandic.
So I know, know. And she's like, that a thing? That was great. No, and he said that. yes. Oh, so cute. That's all we got. Oh, you had predictions. Yeah, I think I had the same thing. Something with Joel. Yeah, that's definitely got to come up. She's going to she's going to struggle somehow, and she's going to break down with Joel and Joel's going to break down with her and some. don't know.
Jacqueline Hanzl (18:41.575)
That's what I see. I see like a session of the two of them like pouring their hearts out to each other trying to like figure it out. We need that. That's what I see. Oh yeah, and Irma and Tiffany apparently are together. Oh yeah. I don't really feel the chemistry. actually the first time, no, the second time I was watching it, I was like, did Irma have any lines? She did, cause they're sitting there at the table and she goes.
Can you pass the sweet potatoes? And I was like, I think she had one line, pass the sweet potatoes. But then for some reason, I think I went back and I was trying to catch something else and she actually spoke a little more. I was like, oh no, okay, she had like a few lines. So I was like, what's up with her not talk? Like, I feel like she'll be there and does not talk. Like, why? I wanted to say recently there, I joined the somebody somewhere Facebook page that's literally just called somebody somewhere. And if you guys, I should put the link to it. It's- join that. Yeah, it's
joined it and seemed to be a part of it quickly, but then I did get accepted. I don't, but I seem like I could see the posts and everything right away. And it is, I mean, I'm trying not to read them because they are talking about the finale a bit, but they are diehard fans. There's like 7,000 right now on there. And I, there has been some misunderstanding posts, misunderstood comprehension of the show.
post somewhere from a fan. Can I say them? one was, wait, I'm confused. The finale is so heavy. got to this one. No, no, just don't look at it. Don't look I'm not gonna look at it. Someone said, wait, I thought Holly was their black adopted sister. Yeah. Someone was like, no, and no one.
Unless somebody else commented and was like making fun of them, but no one made fun of them. were like, no, that was Holly's partner. And they said Sam visits her in episode one. I was like, first of all, no, she didn't visit her in episode one. So that was funny. And then the other post I saw today, there's a lot of posts too. I don't think I see them all. The other post I saw today was, I thought something like Sam's retired. She's like, Sam retired.
Jacqueline Hanzl (21:03.718)
So she's not working. I feel like people sometimes half watch shows. like have it on, but like they're washing dishes in the background or like on their phone or something. I mean, whoa. Yeah. To miss some of those. Come on people. This isn't like watching, you know, Full House on TGI. You have to sit Like you have to focus. Yeah. You do. I miss something. It's short too. Those episodes are so short. Yeah. All right. Why did I talk about Full
Just you love full-ass. You secretly love full-ass. Not secretly. You know, I don't know what I was trying to go on that, sorry. Something about like, just, you know, the sitcom on in the background. Well, yeah. But would sit down and watch Like, there's the frivolous shows where you, where there's, it's all like, there's no subtleties. There's no subtleties. Like, in this show, there's subtleties. Yeah, but what's something you would walk, watch on like, background, like the Today Show or something like.
Yep, today show. But see, I would also have shows on that I've seen a million times. Like I would put Gilmore Girls on in the background or I put friends on in background. but I've seen them. So. Like a thousand times. We're also like watching this and taking notes. Yeah, that's true. But still, those are plot, plots and parts of the plot that, I mean, I don't know about the Sam retired thing, but she does bartend, but the sister, that was a big right to be, to understand. Yikes.
I was like, where is, what? Okay. We're crossing shows maybe. There's another show in the next few years. All right. Well, thanks everyone for listening, for watching. You can always message us if you really want to. I mean, I practically give out my phone number basically and my address on the links down here, down below these episodes.
Yeah. Down. wait. wanted to ask Diana, although she doesn't know the name of it. Diana is enjoying a beverage. It's a red wine. is a Chianti, said, right? And I can't remember the name of it, it's Next time she'll be prepared. That's how good it is. a Chianti. It's delightful. Wow. Yeah. And it's nice and dry, medium body. I like the red wine in the cold month. Feels cozy.
Jacqueline Hanzl (23:25.304)
Yes, not a Pinot Grigio effect at this No, no Pinot Grigio effect in December, See, I'll have it with ice, you know that. All year long. I change my palette with the seasons. Although I drink champagne all year. yeah. Prosecco. some... Where the heck did I go recently? I'm really going out that much. I definitely ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and a...
Glass of ice. Oh, that was, that was out in Saugerties. So that's the day after Thanksgiving at The Pig. I was like, give me, I'm like, no shame. Like I said to the bartender, I'm like, can I also get a glass of ice? She's like, sure. All right. A box of Chablis. Can I have a straw? Yeah. All right. Thank you. Bye.
