Jacqueline Hanzl (00:08)
Hi, this is Jackie.

Diana (00:10)
Hi, this is Diana.

Jacqueline Hanzl (00:11)
This is HomeBodiesOnly, where we welcome all bodies to join us as we break down and dissect HBO MAX series. This episode, we are finally talking about The Sex Lives of College Girls, episode 10, the finale, Essex Strong. Okay. Let's start with loves. It's funny because I know last episode, one of your first loves was Professor Friedman, and that's mine for this one. So, Professor Friedman, because I love Professor Friedman.

Diana (00:38)
Hmm, there you go. Always.

Jacqueline Hanzl (00:40)
When Bela falls watching the hot guy with the VR set. Cause I just, it was a really good fall. Like a really funny freaking fall. That was great. She's a very good, what do they call that? Action comedy, physical comedy. If that was her, unless she had a stunt woman, but she looked like her. It was funny. I love when they're in the ball pit and

Diana (00:50)
Yes, I remember that.

Physical comedy. Totally.

Jacqueline Hanzl (01:07)
Cooper talks about the drunk guy behind him trying to list off words that rhyme with taint. Because if I was in real life doing that, I would have been dying. Like, I would have loved it. Like, I just would have been waiting and listening to him do the rhymes. Especially the way the guy was doing it, like working hard. It sounded like, because I was really listening to his voice. It was very like, paint.

Diana (01:27)
Hmm. Right.

Jacqueline Hanzl (01:35)
saying like he was very he wasn't laughing like it was very serious and I loved that he was so focused I don't know if I have this in the right order but

Diana (01:40)

Jacqueline Hanzl (01:43)
Taylor not drinking the vodka. And I have when the girl, so this ends up being in a love and hate I have to say, but when the girl with the stink bomb leaks in the backpack because it was funny. I guess, so I love that part, but also it's gross.

Diana (01:46)
Same, the vodka, same.

Yes. Yes.

Jacqueline Hanzl (02:05)
Of course, let's see, Willow standing up for Whitney. I love Bela's mom. She's the cutest freaking thing I've ever seen. I love her. And then the song at the end, like that they had the montage and whatever they were doing. Yes. Yes. Especially knowing it's the last episode. okay. Yes. Yeah. least on HBO.

Diana (02:13)
Yep.

The montage was very, very sweet and emotional.

yeah, Newsflash, it's the last episode. Where those are

all the loves. yeah. So Lila again, let's go. ⁓ Kimberly's new friend, that's a bonus. Eli's hair, I wrote down that it gave me some 90s tool time slash home improvement vibes. I was a big fan of home improvement in the 90s. I watched it with my dad.

Jacqueline Hanzl (02:33)
Those are all my loves.

you

Diana (02:50)
often. If you watched it, you know what I'm talking about. So they're still a great show. And then I love that Eli bailed out Kimberly. And lastly, I loved the locker room chat. Girls being strong women. I loved it. So there you go.

Jacqueline Hanzl (02:53)
You

Mm-hmm.

when they stood up for themselves. Mm-hmm. Yes, that was good.

Okay. Hate the ball pit. Because ball pits are gross.

Diana (03:16)
Same.

That really bothered me in many ways.

Jacqueline Hanzl (03:19)
Yeah.

I got pissed off that why did the coach go into the locker room with them? I just thought that was weird that he followed them in there. Also the hate when the stink bomb leaks in the girl's backpack. Like it was funny, but I would have died. Like I would have died. yeah.

Diana (03:24)
That was weird. Stupid. Yeah. Ew.

Okay.

Jacqueline Hanzl (03:41)
when Bela doesn't come out, you know, because her mom was there. I mean, obviously that was like a, you know, whole thing, but yeah, of course. And then I, apparently I hated that that sparkly Tumbler made it into the last scene of the show, of the episode. It was there when they were all, I mean, that part I liked, they were all laughing in the suite. ⁓ brother.

Diana (04:03)
Mm-hmm. ⁓ geez

Louise you okay over there? Well notebook mishap Good grief dust the

Jacqueline Hanzl (04:10)
my notebook. I wasn't holding it correctly.

⁓ And then I hated then it's over. mean, I, I, it lacked it's you know, it wasn't as great this season, but but I will say these last two episodes, I don't know if it was because I knew it was ending but I was like, no, no.

Diana (04:19)
I know it since yeah now

Well,

mean, I think all in all, like we love the rodeo episode. We love Parents Weekend. It gave us the, you know, what we love about the show, or at least for me. But it's time. It's, mean, Renee Rapp's no, it's not that she made the show, but like it was such a, like the chemistry of them. And thank goodness for Taylor coming in, cause that's, that was fun and she's great, but it's the show, there's.

Jacqueline Hanzl (04:40)
Mm-hmm.

I don't know. I I know. No, I know, I know. Yeah, I know. It was such a different, the chemistry was so good. Yeah.

Yeah, yeah.

Diana (04:59)
I just don't see how they're going to reach the audience any longer. Kind of like another show we're podcasting.

Jacqueline Hanzl (05:01)
I know. I know.

I know. With women, so that's kind of bugging me. It stinks. ⁓ Yeah.

Diana (05:08)
We'll see. I know it stinks, right? And you just want to be the cheerleader,

but we have other shows where we're like, why does it have to add Somebody Somewhere? Why can't that just go on forever?

Jacqueline Hanzl (05:19)
Yeah, Somebody Somewhere my God. I

have, this is super not on the subject, but the Somebody Somewhere fan page on Facebook, I love them. Like that's one of these fan pages. No one is negative. No one. And love the show. They, I have like chills, but everybody who watches the show and...

Diana (05:38)
like so genuine and just really, genuinely love it's.

Jacqueline Hanzl (05:47)
basically everybody watches show and really likes it, says the same thing. You wanna hang out with them. You feel like you're just with them, like them. You feel like they're your friends. And a lot of these people on there, some of them are saying, I feel like they're not gonna cry because I don't know why I feel bad. They're like, Joel and Sam are my best friends. Like they don't, they might not have that in their life. like that's, so that group is just so cute. Like I, you saw, I think I posted that we're going to see Bridget in October.

Diana (05:51)
Mm-hmm.

my gosh, the connection. Sure. Yeah.

Jacqueline Hanzl (06:17)
I just was so excited. So I posted, I'm like, is anyone else? And so many people, I saw her here, I saw her there, I love her. Oh, I wish I could go. So many people were going to the city to see, I didn't put my, not that they wanna stalk me, I let my seats show on it. But it's just, they're so, I don't know. You don't see a negative comment at all. And I always see somebody's an a-hole somewhere on some kind of comment on these other show, or they like rip into somebody because they,

Diana (06:21)

Yeah.

Sure, sure, yeah.

ever.

yeah.

Jacqueline Hanzl (06:46)
ask a question, like they don't remember something and people rip into them. Like on And Just Like That, somebody was like, oh, I can't tell you. I can't tell you you don't watch it. But there's a comment and they like attacked them because they didn't remember something. I mean, it was a little surprising, but like, God, calm down. Anyway, I just have to say, it's a great fan page. Oh, okay, sorry. What you hate? No, I'm done.

Diana (06:47)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Yeah, because I haven't, yeah.

It's a show. Yeah, great fan group. Yeah. Were you still on your hates?

Okay, so I hated the athletic board. That made me cringe. ⁓ The ball pit, ew. And then Cooper and Kacey's relationship unfolding too fast. I was like, no, no, I don't like this. Obviously they're like going a mile a minute because the show's ending maybe, whatever, but ⁓ I was not a fan.

Jacqueline Hanzl (07:16)
God. Yeah.

Yeah... ⁓

Amping it up so that, yeah.

Diana (07:31)
So yeah, I didn't like that.

Jacqueline Hanzl (07:33)
I think,

yeah, and I didn't like that in a way.

It was into a stereotype where it's like, sleep with him and then he breaks up with you. But that wasn't really the reason he broke up with her, but it just was.

Diana (07:45)
Right.

Jacqueline Hanzl (07:48)
Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of that. ⁓ Yeah, I didn't love that either. ⁓ I can relate. It's not really.

Diana (07:48)
Yeah.

Jacqueline Hanzl (08:01)
It's not totally an I can relate. It's just kind of funny because this must have happened like the day before I watched this or something because it said, I just told a student I had never been in one. So it's an opposite of I can relate, but I must have had a kid. I have never been in a ball pit. Like I guess maybe I'm too old. Like I don't know, like they weren't around. No, but you can't like, why would I go into a ball pit? Aren't we too big? Like for kids, I mean.

Diana (08:07)
Mm-hmm.

mine. They were. Well, no. Yeah, but

like when you were a kid, there was never a ball pit. can.

Jacqueline Hanzl (08:30)
They didn't have ball

pits. They did not, around here, we did not have a place to go and jump in a ball pit, as far as I know, unless there was a Chuck E. Cheese, because I didn't go to Chuck E. Cheese. There were Chuck E. Cheese's. And I definitely was never.

Diana (08:34)
Okay, I remember going to a place that had a ball pit.

I don't think they had ball pits at Chuck E Cheese. was there. Major magics.

didn't. No, where the heck was I?

Jacqueline Hanzl (08:46)
Like we're almost 10 years apart and that can be why because...

Diana (08:48)
Sure, maybe it

was more of an 80s thing. Was it McDonald's or something or Burger King? I don't know. I definitely remember going in one as a kid not liking it at all because static and germs and all the things. It's weird. Like you could like you don't know how like people think they could jump in. How how like shallow or what? Yeah. But.

Jacqueline Hanzl (08:59)
It's gross. It's a little scary, I feel like. Especially if you're too kind of short. Can't you drown in it kind of? How deep is it? Deep is it? Yeah.

Wait.

When did ball pits come into? Whatever. Yeah.

Diana (09:20)
When were they invented?

Mainstreamed like 70s 60s? See? It's like saying I've never been to a roller rink. Come on.

Jacqueline Hanzl (09:25)
Wow, they became popular in the 70s.

We did not...

No, they did not have them around here. I'm telling you. If they did, I didn't know about it. I gotta ask my friends. We did not do that. I mean, this was quite... I mean, we had a roller rink, thank God, but you know, this was way less, not like it's so exciting around here, but way less stuff. Like, it was definitely more rural. Yeah, no, I know we did not. We were in Buffalo.

Diana (09:36)
Okay. Wow.

Yeah, maybe they didn't have it here.

Mm-mm. We had it all in Western New York, so.

Jacqueline Hanzl (09:59)
Buffalo is a city.

Diana (09:59)
I don't have anything, well,

I had something but I can't remember who said it or what but it was something about all in one body washing shampoo and I said something about you can't use that past like 10 years old so who knows if you're listening, watching, I tried to scroll through because I'm not rewatching the episode. Like a combined.

Jacqueline Hanzl (10:05)
I've got...

We think maybe it's Ash.

Yeah, definitely can't use the all in one body. If you're going to use, say you are at a hotel

or something and they have the combined all in one, pick one thing, but don't use it for everything. You know what saying? Like, hey, I'm going to use this as my, although I can imagine not being great on your hair. I just feel like if it's for your body, it's not going to be good for your hair.

Diana (10:28)
I don't know, yeah.

How do you feel about the... speaking of hotels, because now every hotel that I've been to in the past couple of years... Yes, how do you feel about that?

Jacqueline Hanzl (10:41)
attaches the pumps to the wall. And so you can't take it.

Diana (10:47)
No, no, not that you can't take it, but do you trust it? Because I'm that person who's like, what if somebody's...

Jacqueline Hanzl (10:54)
Do what? What do you think people did to it? my God.

Diana (10:56)
This is where my thoughts go.

I bring my own because I'm so scared that somebody like put like, what if they took the shampoo and they like dumped like bleach in it or something? I don't know.

Jacqueline Hanzl (11:04)
No. What hotels are you going to? No,

I've never thought of that. I more don't like...

Diana (11:12)
Is it locked?

Like, I trust the people that work there, but like people that go from... Is that really...

Jacqueline Hanzl (11:18)
Now you're putting

that out in the universe. Okay. So most hotels that I've been to that have it there and attached and you pump it out are not cheap. No, they're not cheap. ⁓ Yeah. I don't think you can even take that. You probably cannot take the top off. I well, I don't know how you could. I've never tried either, but I only travel with my own because I usually don't like the quality of the shampoo and conditioner at the hotels.

Diana (11:25)
Is it locked? Yeah.

No, like yeah, I'm talking about, you I don't I've never tried but I still travel with my own

Yeah.

Jacqueline Hanzl (11:44)
I don't care what they

Diana (11:44)
Yeah.

Jacqueline Hanzl (11:45)
say the line is, which I'm like, the line, the brand, like they'll say, this is French, blah, blah. Like I've never heard of you in my life. And it's, it's usually very watery. Like if I ever had to be like, okay, I better use this or I use the little bottle of it. It's crappy. It's not good quality. So I don't really, I have never thought of that. my God.

Diana (11:48)
Yeah. From spa, whatever. And I never heard of it. They just make it up. Yeah.

And I'm such a positive person and I love like, but I'm, I can't help but think there's a kid somewhere that's like, well, I'm to put this food dye in here. So I don't know. Like again, I'm weird in that way. Like I think about safety and I, I don't know, like some TikTok or like, you know, like somebody goes and like, I don't know something where they're like, you know.

Jacqueline Hanzl (12:08)
It's your parent.

I think it's

You are.

You're a psychologist. You're thinking of weird minds. I don't know.

YouTube short or something. my god

Diana (12:34)
I don't know, an

idiot. I do appreciate hotels that provide the bar of soap. I do love a good bar of soap still. I'm a big fan of the soap. Yeah, but I miss the mini bottles, I just gotta say. I know like, oh, people take them and it's so not green and, but I'm paying hundreds of dollars to stay here for a night. like, please just, can we go back to, you know, I don't know. I just bought, I don't know, give me the.

Jacqueline Hanzl (12:38)
Yes. No, know I let provide, provide, cause I'm paying provide, even if I don't use it. Yeah.

No, I will take, but I take them. no, I take them. Yep. No, I'm taking them. Yeah.

Diana (13:02)
I would prefer something sealed actually that like is factory sealed or like I would prefer like I don't like when you can just open a product and then it's open to the world because they're touching it they're pouring it out or whatever they're doing like give me a seal on that and I'm

Jacqueline Hanzl (13:14)
Right. Yeah.

Okay. You're so fast. Yeah, I never thought that. Okay. Fashion. Okay. I had two things. ⁓ I could not find the first one. I tried to Google lens it today and ⁓ I don't think my picture was very good, but I don't know. I even tried, I did through Amazon, even put in, it was Taylor. Taylor has a lot of bomber jackets I've noticed.

Diana (13:22)
Sorry. Okay, we need to move on to fashion before I lose it.

Yep.

Mmm.

Jacqueline Hanzl (13:49)
Her bomber jacket when she's talking to Bela on the bench and that kid is talking about the chode wheel, that his roommate called it the chode wheel, because it's the chore wheel. I liked that. It was khaki something, like a camoish green or brown, like brownish green, like army, that color. And it had big pockets on it, on the arm, and it was short.

Diana (13:57)
Yeah, yep. Yep.

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Jacqueline Hanzl (14:15)
And then I think we have the same things I heard you say before. Whitney's ⁓ red Adidas track suit with the floral embroidery on it, flowers on the top. ⁓ That is sold out. Shocking. Sold out. Excuse me. All right, what did you have?

Diana (14:18)
Whitney.

So cute.

shocker.

I also on the Whitney subject, loved her black and white plaid coat from the dining hall. So

Jacqueline Hanzl (14:38)
Yes. That was that.

It was in the dining hall. I don't know which meal. It might have been breakfast. Yeah, she had a turtleneck on underneath it. It's funny. I noticed that this time around too. I think the first time I watched, wasn't paying as much attention to the clothes or something. And I saw that and I was like, I do like that one. Yeah.

Diana (14:44)
I have no idea, but it was very sweet.

Yeah.

It was a good coat and I loved

her green skirt and now I can't remember anything about it but she had a green skirt at some point in the episode and it was fabulous so shout out to her.

Jacqueline Hanzl (15:11)
Alright Background check. I don't know if this would be called background check, but the song that was playing in the background during the party, the closed captioning shows me the lyrics.

Diana (15:09)
Yeah. Like, you know, that's it.

Who? Uh huh.

Okay.

Jacqueline Hanzl (15:26)
I don't just put on subtitles. I put on closed captions now because that will also tell me song titles, usually. And sometimes I'm trying to find a song from the shows. Anyway, ⁓ there's a line, I think it's actually part of the chorus possibly that it was like, that it's last night I threw up in my Uber and I'm like, what? So I thought that was interesting. And it's by...

Diana (15:45)
What is that?

Jacqueline Hanzl (15:48)
love like luxury. Young and Foolish is the name of the song. And then I think it says featuring something like Charlie on a Friday. But it's like, I wouldn't have known they said that if I didn't see the, and I just thought that was a funny lyric to have in a song. Last night I threw up in my Uber. yeah. You don't have anything for background check, do you? All right.

Diana (16:08)
Interesting.

No.

Nerfing. That's it. That's all she wrote. We'll miss you girls, but it's time to move on.

Jacqueline Hanzl (16:17)
Nerfing? What do we got? my gosh. I wonder how long that was.

I know. I mean, people were hoping that maybe another network would pick it up. You never know. Yeah. Bela was in something, cause I follow her on Instagram. We'll see. We'll see. But.

Diana (16:24)
morning.

Yeah, we'll see some other, we'll see the girls in other places, other shows, I'm sure doing other work.

It's

all right.

Jacqueline Hanzl (16:39)
Nothing can, you know, it's sentimental with, because of course I cried at like the end of the episode, both times I watched it. It was the second show we ever talked about, ever did on here. And it did really well. It was one of our highest, people are still, because it's on YouTube. The first season is all just audio because we didn't do video back then. was a much simpler time for everything, editing, but.

Diana (16:47)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah.

Jacqueline Hanzl (17:06)
The one I think that gets downloaded the most and I don't even know how long they're actually listening to it. I really think it's because it's the episode called Naked Party and I really think that's why it gets hit, like touched and played. But I think people go to that thinking it's something else. Just guessing. ⁓ But yeah, so it was a big one.

Diana (17:19)
Sure.

we talk about at all.

Yeah.

Jacqueline Hanzl (17:31)
Talked to Trish, my HomeBodies podcast, account. Somehow I access anymore. Not saying it was Trish's fault.

Diana (17:33)
my gosh.

⁓ jeez.

that. ⁓ shoot. Alright, well thanks for listening to us or watching us.

Jacqueline Hanzl (17:45)
Okay, so yes,

yes. Check us out, btrpmedia.com. We are currently doing And Just Like That fashion only.

Diana (17:56)
Fashion only.

Jacqueline Hanzl (17:57)
Yes, and we've talked about many other HBO shows and so happy it's HBO MAX again. All right, guys. Bye.

Diana (18:03)
totally.

Bye.
